Today we cover cats, dogs, pet food and nutrition, pet insurance, and pet travel — and we accept guest contributions across all of it. If you know pets well and can write clearly, this page tells you exactly what we want and how to send it.

Topics we accept
Anything a serious pet owner would search for. That includes:
- Cat care — health, grooming, behavior, breed comparisons (Maine Coons are our home turf, but all breeds welcome)
- Dog care — training, health, breed guides, day-to-day ownership
- Pet food & nutrition — ingredient analysis, feeding guides, diet transitions, honest food reviews
- Pet insurance — plan comparisons, claim experiences, what policies actually cover
- Pet travel — airline rules, road trips, moving abroad with animals
- Small pets, birds, and general animal wellness are also welcome if the piece is genuinely useful
What a good submission looks like
- 1,200–2,500 words, original, and never published anywhere else (we check)
- Written from real knowledge — hands-on experience, professional background, or properly cited research. Health claims need sources.
- Structured with clear subheadings, short paragraphs, and a takeaway the reader can act on
- A short author bio (2–3 sentences). Credentials welcome but not required — a rescue volunteer with ten years of fostering often writes better pet content than a marketer with none.
What we don’t publish
- Spun, AI-generated, or rewritten content
- Thin promotional pieces built around a product link
- Casino, CBD, essay-writing, or anything unrelated to pets
- Articles on topics we’ve already covered in the same way — check our existing posts first
One relevant, natural link to your site or portfolio is fine within the content or bio. Link-stuffed drafts get rejected without reply.
How to submit
Email your pitch or finished draft to hi@mainecoonguides.com with the subject line “Guest Post — [your topic]”. Include:
- Your topic or the full draft (Google Doc or Word)
- One or two writing samples or links to published work
- Your author bio
We review every pitch and reply to the ones that fit, usually within 5–7 business days. Accepted pieces are edited for clarity and accuracy before publishing — we keep your voice, we just tighten the writing.
